I found this behind a trailer behind an antique store in the TINY town of Oro Grande, California on old Route 66. Sometimes the most interesting stuff is just out of sight — it pays to explore.
But sometimes you find a rattlesnake.

I love antique stores and flea markets — there are SO many interesting vignettes to photograph. It’s even easier to do with my iPhone because shop-keepers don’t seem to mind (vs. a bigger DSLR).

…on Route 66. This is the tiny town of Oro Grande, in the Mojave Desert between Victorville and Barstow, California. Was very lucky to catch that gorgeous orange train. This section of Route 66 has dozens of great photo ops — it’s well worth a day trip from the Los Angeles area.
And, if you look closely, you’ll find a cow on the roof!

This store window on King Street (Charleston, South Carolina) was fascinating! I don’t know how long it had been there, but it looked like forever. And I hope they never change it!

I’m obsessed with road trips, and one of my favorite local road trips is old Route 66 (tons of photos still to come – you’ll probably get sick of them). As every weekend approaches I start to think about throwing the dog in the car and hitting the road. I’m lucky that there are so many great, diverse day trips here in Southern California.
This shot is from the car (I was NOT driving) (this time), and it’s a stretch of Route 66 just outside of Oro Grande, California — somewhere between Victorville and Barstow, in the Mojave Desert. I was SO lucky to spot that ORANGE Corvette passing by the ORANGE gas station!
