The Blossom Trail

The Blossom Trail

I was surprised to see these trees blossoming in the California Central Valley near Lost Hills. The area has been so dry I wasn’t sure they could survive. I’m not sure what they are…signs in the area advertise home-grown almonds and pistachios (and pie and fudge!). I’m still looking for the fudge trees.

Red…

PLUS, the American flag and the California flag, all in the historic Monterey Canning Company building on Cannery Row in Monterey, California. Hey, Steinbeck!!!

Big Waves

Big Waves

Giant waves in a turquoise sea in the gorgeous Point Lobos State Reserve in Carmel, California last week. Just north of Big Sur, this is one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Life is good…

20131211-220805.jpgI hate to keep being such a cliche, but I just can’t help being thankful for everyone and everything in my life when I walk outside after a delicious lunch with delicious friends to a view like this. I’m a lucky girl.

Friendliest garage sale ever…Free Beer!

You gotta love beach towns…casual, laid-back, friendly. There was a Welcome sign in the yard of the garage sale, a guy playing the guitar and singing on the porch, and…a bucket full of FREE cold beer.

There were dozens of beautiful painted landscapes scattered around the yard and when I asked the guy who the artist was, he replied, “My mother. Don’t tell her I’m selling them.” Then he winked and pointed to a woman across the yard, who laughed (the artist/mom).

I really want to live in Summerland, California.
